First 2 techniques on delivering a good presentation

Speak Loudly and Clear

This first technique of keeping your audience attention is to speak loud and clear so your audience can be clear of the message that you are intended to deliver. The purpose of this presentation should be your focus.

Here are some of the things to keep in mind when presenting:
  • Be enthusiastic and have energy because if you are not excited about what you’re going to be talking about why should your audience?
  • Speak loud enough so the entire audience can hear you clearly (even the back).
  • If you have any terms that your audiences are not familiar with make sure that you clearly define those terms.
  • The pitch of your voice is very important; by using a low pitch voice makes you sound severe.
  • When you are delivering your presentation make sure your pace speed is easy to follow. You can speed up your presentation to add a little energy or enthusiasm and slower to add emphasis.
  • Articulation is key to a well-spoken presentation. Pronounce and articulate every word so the audience can hear you clearly.

Hope this will help you on your next presentation or any public speaking event that you have in the near future.

Visuals (pictures, videos)

Visuals help your audience see things in a different perspective and interesting way. It is what your audience “see” which keeps their attention and eyes on you.
Think about using different visuals such as photographs (pictures you have taken yourself), tables, diagrams, charts, drawings, key words, or videos. Be creative and deliberate when choosing your visuals you want to achieve the most impact.
There are some rules on displaying your visual aids. Here are some tips that will help you produce high quality visual images:
  • Each visual should have a simple idea.
  • When it comes to diagrams and charts make sure they are readable for all audiences even those sitting at the back.
  • Do not clutter the images.
  • Keep your images consistent (same font, colour, lay out, etc.).
  • Make sure your images are high quality, free of spelling mistakes and grammar
Remember that your audience should be able to understand your visuals very easily and quickly. Use visual aids when you want to explain something complex clearly. Make your visuals creative in your presentation and you can mix and match different medias to create an impact.
